I believe Harry joked that “Big Mike is an asshole.” That killed me! So funny! As did his “Not hitting her!” defense during his Sinatra story when he said he was being mean to Jill cuz he was nervous. Best. Mentor. Ever. This may have been my fave results show ever, too. Like you, I typically hate them, but I loved this one just because we got so much Harry Connick Jr goodness! I so adore him! And if we must lose Simon, who I love, I would love to see Harry take that role. But I don’t think he’s mean enough.

I feel, as David Cook’s girlfriend, that I should let you know that the “Hero” song he was singing in Ethiopia was on his album. And I don’t believe it was on their list of inspirational songs. I do love me some DC.

Devin, we are cut from the same cloth! The more I think about it, the more I thought is was not that great, esp compared to Michael’s reworking of Hero – a song I cannot stand – into a song I can tolerate and enjoy. Lee took a favorite song of mine – one that is undeniably inspirational yet subtle – and kinda ruined it with the vocals alone. Not to mention how the arrangement did no favors to Lee as well…

You are not alone in disagreeing with the judges about Lee. You actually seem to like it more than I did. I wanted to like it so much because I like Lee and I love that song. I was most excited about that song, but I couldn’t find the melody at all. I hated the arrangement and I thought he struggled with some of the notes. Very disappointing, but then the judges LOVED it, so I don’t know what I missed.
