2011 Oscars

Date: Sunday, February 26, 2012

Location: Lake Forest Park

I think we were all excited to see if this year’s host, Eddie Murphy, would bring up what is now referred to as the “Norbit” curse (i.e. when an actor/actress loses an Oscar due to a January/February release of a shitty movie).  Whoops!  Thanks, Brett Ratner, for making this year’s Oscars boring as hell.  I know, I know, everyone was “excited” about Billy Crystal coming back, but I for one, thought it was boring.

But this Oscars will go down in history as the year of The Flu.  Craig and I were literally diagnosed with Influenza Type B (let the record show, Craig gave it to me AND he had a flu shot while I did not).  Needless to say, we scrapped the drinks.  But it was still a party.  A party of six.  But it counts as Andy Holland and Allen McConnell both came from far away to nurse us to health.

Best Picture Winner – The Artist

Drinks (had I made them):
The Artist: Old Fashioned
The Descendants: Hawaiian Cocktail (Gin, Triple Sec and pineapple juice)
Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close: Manhattan
The Help: Chocolate Cream Pie
Hugo: Shoot the Moon Cocktail (Light Rum, Vodka, cranberry juice, grenadine, 7-up)
Midnight in Paris: Parisian Cocktail (Dry Vermouth, Gin, Creme de Cassis)
Moneyball: Bud Light
The Tree of Life: WTF Cocktail (basically a Vodka Sour with peaches, cucumbers and pepper)
War Horse: Dark Horse (Gin, Campari, soda and lime)
